Our school is so excited about the success of
The Listening Program
that we are opening a "Listening Lab" this year. Our lab will serve eight students every
25 minutes. The principal has had such positive feedback from the classroom teachers that
he is giving me three aides to keep it running all day.
I posted the sign-up sheet in the lounge and sent out an e-mail for teachers to sign up ASAP.
The day was completely booked by 11 a.m.I guess I'm not the only educator in this building who believes in this program anymore!

I had originally decided to begin using The Listening Program
for my son Seth's expressive speech delay. Little did I know that many more added benefits
would happen along the way. After initial bumps in the road, which Melissa explained are a
sign The Listening Program was working, fantastic things began happening.
"Not only did Seth start making new attempts at unfamiliar words, he also became more
physically active and much more coordinated. His articulation improved dramatically during
the program. He also was sleeping better, had better posture, and his focus was amazing. He
was sitting for extended periods of time and staying with one task for up to 30 minutes!
Pretty good for a 3 year old…
"Seth has always been a very emotional, huggy, cuddly little boy, but the hugs and kisses
even increased. His sentences became longer and longer and his vocabulary grew daily. I can
just imagine what was going on in his little brain!!
"His speaking and vocabulary is now age appropriate, but his sentence structure and
articulation still need work. I know that if it weren't for
The Listening Program
and the wonderful help and support of our Provider Melissa East, Seth would not be at the
stage he is now, or have made such amazing progress

At the beginning of January my son (who was diagnosed with dyslexia and hyperactivity disorder
2.5 years ago) and I
started on the program. In my son's case, improvements began on the second week. By day 9,
my son asked me for a
book to read, and to my surprise he read it in a week and started a second one. To make a
long story short, he has
read 4 books in the last six weeks. He, a child who never before read more than 1 page at a
time! When he reached
week 4, his English teacher reported improvements on his writing and by the 6th week, his
regular teacher indicated
that his handwriting has improved so much that he was even making fewer mistakes with
letter and word. Also he started
to control his hyperactivity, after a couple of weeks of being out of control. He is
finishing the program today and
still making progress.

Before my 6 1/2 year old son started the Base Schedule of The Listening Program,
he was frustrated with not being
able to express himself. If he couldn't understand something his teachers or I told him to do, he would become
very angry. He displayed this through nasty faces or a defiant attitude. His teacher sent home notes about his
behavior nearly every day. The day after he started The Listening Program he started being nicer to everyone and
he was less frustrated at school and home. After week number 3, we had a parent-teacher conference and the teacher
asked what we had done. She thought we had started him on medication! By the end of the 8 week program I had talked
to his teacher and she said she was amazed at the difference in him and how he listened so much better and had a much
improved attitude overall.

I am a fifty seven year old male with hearing loss diagnosed as severe to profound. Hearing aids roughly equal in
strength to the Grateful Dead's amplifiers have enabled me to continue as a productive business person and to function
at least passably in the hearing world.
The Listening Program was introduced to me over a great deal of skepticism. Unfortunately I have no real baseline
from which to measure the success of the program, but I now hear better and rely less on the hearing aids in day-to-day
activities.
The noticeable benefits include:
The ability to hear sounds (such as the directional signal on a car) which previously required the hearing aids.
The ability to carry on a two way conversation hearing more sounds and spoken words being misunderstood less often.
Reduction in the amount of hours daily that I need to wear hearing aids.
Renewed enjoyment in listening to recorded music which I can now hear with amplification, but without hearing aids.
Increased sensitivity to ambient sounds (telephones, door bells, other small sounds) without aids.
I really don't need the $6,000 special digital hearing aid that the audiologist was pushing!
While I haven't shouted, "Eureka I'm cured!" I am amazed at the significant improvement in hearing brought about by The Listening Program. Without professing to understand it all, I can wholeheartedly recommend the program to those with profound hearing loss that want to rely less on hearing aids to hear more sounds clearly.
Thanks for your innovation and dedication in making The Listening Program a reality.

One of our receptionists at work used The Listening Program
for her son who is dyslexic. After the third week she told me that he had
suddenly started to say "sh" - whereas before this he used to say "s" - and did not understand when he was corrected
by others. The following week he actually took a written telephone message, something he had never done before. He had
previously always refused to take messages as he had problems writing them down.
