I bring over twenty years experience as a holistic health educator into my work, using my Doctorate in Naturopathy
and Masters in
Psychology to optimize the healing of each person I work with.
I provide a unique holistic approach to psychotherapy by combining my
education and experience, including accreditations as a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist,
Registered Addiction Specialist,
Certified Clinical Nutritionist, and Certified Clinical Herbalist. Additionally, I am currently working on my Ph.D. in
Psychology at the
Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. This multi-disciplinary approach allows me to approach issues from a
comprehensive and individualized perspective, helping the people I work with to feel better faster and appreciate lasting results.
Recent scientific research from respected institutions like Harvard and Yale confirms that complementary and alternative
therapies can
help heal psychological problems significantly faster than psychotherapy alone. Moreover, clinical studies report that this approach markedly
reduces the incidence of relapse that frequently occurs as we recover from psychological distress. This is exactly why I combine psychology,
naturopathy and nutrition - so that my clients can return to health and happiness quickly and stay that way.
My book, Healing and Wholeness: Complementary and Alternative Therapies for Mental Health, contains thousands
of studies on the scientifically-proven efficacy of using such therapies in the treatment of the following mental health problems:
- Depression
- Seasonal Effective Disorder
- Postpartum Depression
- Bipolar Disorder
- Anxiety Disorders
- Insomnia
- Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Autistic Spectrum Disorders
- Schizophrenia
- Eating Disorders
- Substance Abuse Disorders
- Nicotine Addiction
- Chronic Fatigue
- Stress Management
- Cognitive Decline and Dementia
In treating mental health, lifestyle and quality of life factors are critical. Important considerations include
physical health, regular exercise and fitness, recreational pursuits, creative expression, healthy diet,
regenerative sleep, meaningful work, financial security, residential stability, satisfying interpersonal relationships,
and spiritual practices.
How I work...
I offer an unusually successful approach to psychotherapy combining mindfulness-based approaches and naturopathy with the aim of increasing insight, wellness, and relational connectivity.
The interactive quality of my work invites safe self-exploration and supports the journey towards meaningful change. The
methods I use are subtle, and my clients generally don't know I'm using a particular technique - only that they feel better.
My sessions are powerful and yet unobtrusive and my style is gentle and effective. While emphasizing positive thinking, trust, self-love,
and honesty with an open the heart, I encourage self-awareness to change self-destructive patterns, unconscious belief systems
and unhealthy habits. I'm particularly committed to encouraging a shift towards self-discovery, empowerment, and healthier
communication.
Taking the first step is often the hardest. Please contact me when you're ready, as I encourage any questions you may
have. I invite you to discover the empowered path to total wellness.
Warmly,
